Free activities in Whistler

July 05, 2011 @ 01:42AM

With such natural beauty found in Whistler, it's easy to find free things to do in the area. From biking and taking in the breathtaking views of Valley Trail to challenging yourself with a hike of Tantalus View Trail at Whistler's Interpretive forest, Whistler offers activities for everyone. For those seeking enrichment and wanting to learn more about life on the mountain, the Whistler museum is a great place to start. For Whistler summer activities, look no further than a few rounds of disc golf. There is something for everyone in Whistler!

Winding through Whistler's valley, Valley Trail is 40 km of paved path that connects much of Whistler. Whether you'd rather bike, walk, or jog, Valley Trail provides a scenic backdrop with snow-capped mountains and calm, reflective lakes. Exploring has never been more fun with secret paths and challenging climbs. If a more natural approach is to your liking, check out Whistler Interpretive forest. In winter months, the forest offers paths for snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing. In summer months, there are trails for hiking and wildlife viewing. For indoor entertainment, check out the Whistler museum. With its mission to collect and preserve artifacts documenting the history of Whistler Valley, visitors can trace Whistler's past through photographs and through the history of its most famous residents.

For Whistler summer activities, guests can learn and conquer the game of disc golf. With the course set around Lost Lake Park, players take plastic flying discs and throw them into metal baskets. Scoring is done similarly to traditional golf, and the game can be extremely fun and addictive. The game incorporates a simple idea with a need for accuracy and skill, making it a perfect activity for summer in Whistler. Whether outdoors hiking or biking, indoors taking in the history of the area, or learning a new summer activity, there is plenty to do for free in Whistler.
