The Peak 2 Peak Gondola in Whistler is an engineering marvel that affords travel from the peak of Whistler Mountain to the peak of Blackcomb Mountain over the Fitzsimmons Valley. Opened in December, 2008, it is not only the longest continuous lift system in the world but has the longest unsupported span at nearly 1.9 miles (just over 3 kilometers) and is the highest at 1,430 feet (436 meters) above ground. That is 3 times the length of the Golden Gate Bridge and 4 ½ times the height of the Statue of Liberty.

The terminal on Whistler Mountain can be accessed via the Whistler Gondola. The terminal is located adjacent to the Roundhouse Lodge, the largest eating facility on the slopes. On the Blackcomb side, the station is next to the Rendezvous Lodge, another dining venue. Operating winter and summer with a few inter-season breaks, the Peak 2 Peak Gondola provides a convenient 11 minute ride from mountain to mountain, not only for skiers but for diners, sightseers, hikers or anyone enjoying the many different activities available at this resort community.

Whatever the season, Peak 2 Peak affords spectacular views of the magnificent alpine setting, the ski slopes and the valley below. In addition to the 360 degree perspective offered by all the gondolas, silver colored cars have glass bottoms to further enhance the amazing experience for the adventurous. Although the conception and construction of a lift this size joining the two mountains was bold and daring, the footprint and the energy use in the operation are rather small, due to modern technologies. There are several redundant safety systems in place. Peak 2 Peak Gondola ticket prices include unlimited crossings for the day. Multiple day passes are available at slightly higher prices and there are different pricing levels for adults, seniors, teens and children.
